The following examples or use cases are hypothetical scenarios based on similar in the field experiences of Eco-Logical team members.

SCENARIO 1: SMALL RESTAURANT

PROBLEM:

A typical small restaurant will have 1 single grease trap under the main sink where dishes are washed and food is cleaned and prepared. Low usage traps are 25 gallons and moderate usage traps are 100 gallons.

These traps will contain residual from food prep and dirty dishes:

As material gets washed through the trap the heavy material is trapped by the baffles and settles to the bottom while the liquefied remains pass through into the drain system. The drain system will often connect into a system of floor drains that are used to remove water and dirt after mopping, etc. Residual material will get caught in these drains and adhere to the walls of the pipes. Most restaurants will experience an odor problem in that system as well as fruit flies, flies and bugs (roaches) so it is important to keep the grease traps and these pipes clean.

The problems are the same regardless of the size of the trap but for this example let’s discuss a 50 gallon grease trap.

Traps can be cleaned in a few different ways. The restaurant can use enzymes (not bacteria) which will emulsify the grease and essentially push it through the drains and into the municipal pipes therefore making it someone else’s problems. This grease will solidify and clog the municipal system which has caused many cities and towns to ban the use of simple enzymes. The other method is mechanical pumping. Mechanical pumping is invasive and expensive. The pumper has to gain access to the kitchen with a hose and pump the material from the trap into a truck. That can be dirty, smelly and expensive. In some cases pumper’s will pump the liquid but not the solids leaving you with a trap that will clog and back up into the restaurant.

Pumping costs vary from city to city.

Using the Eco-logical tablets is cleaner, environmentally friendly and more cost effective. Trap-Eze Tabs digest and eats Fats, Oils, and Grease turning it into carbon dioxide and water. No grease trap pumping of FOG is needed.

TREATMENT:

For a 50 gallon trap you would start off with 3 TRAP-EZE Tabs (200 gram – 3” diameter) as an initial dose. By releasing oxygen into the system from the TRAP-EZE tablets the odors will immediately disappear. Over the next 10 – 12 days the bacteria colony from the TRAP-EZE tablets will establish itself along the bottom and up the sides of the trap. For the next 4 weeks add 1 Trap-Eze Tab per week.

After the first 4-5 weeks we would recommend a single TRAP-EZE tablet every week or 5 TRAP-EZE tablets every 2 months.

For floor drains we recommend 1 TRAP-EZE Mini-Tab feeding it into the floor drain.

Cost Savings Analysis*:

Pumping monthly at $250 per month is a cost factor of $3,000 per year

Using environmentally safe and clean EcoNow TRAP-EZE tablets has a cost factor of approximately $540 per year (Total of 54 TRAP-EZE tablets at a cost of apporximately $10 per tab)

SCENARIO 2 – A LARGE RESTAURANT OR CAFETERIA

PROBLEM

A large kitchen serving a high volume dining establishment. 1000 gallon grease trap, with a substantial grease cap built up over time, located outside the kitchen and close to high trafficked sidewalk. The kitchen also has a separate floor drain trap. There is an overwhelming and embarrassing odor drifting towards the sidewalk. The grease buildup creates a continuous back flow into the kitchen resulting in emergency calls to the pumper and the cleanup crews as well as problems with flies and bugs. Pumping on this trap would be over $850 and the pumper was never able to remove the grease cap and therefore pumped only the liquid waste.

TREATMENT

Normally we would treat a trap of this size with an initial dose of 12 TRAP-EZE tablets (200 gram – 3”diameter) for the next 4 weeks add 3 Trap-Eze Tab per week. After the first 4 – 5 weeks we would recommend 2 TRAP-EZE tablet every week or 10 TRAP-EZE tablets every month.

For floor drains we recommend 1 TRAP-EZE Mini-Tab feeding it into the floor drain.

Cost Savings Analysis*:

Pumping monthly at $600 per month is a cost a factor of $7,200 per year

Using environmentally safe and clean EcoNow TRAP-EZE tablets has a cost factor of approximately $1,180 per year (Total of 118 TRAP-EZE tablets at a cost per tablet of approximately $10 per tab)

SCENARIO 3 – A LARGE HOTEL COMPLEX

SETUP

1. 40 restaurants
2. One 10,000 gallon grease trap
3. Four 2500 gal grease traps.

PROBLEMS

1. $75,000 + monthly municipal fines for oil and grease pollution
2. Significant hydrogen sulfide and foul odor issues
3. Formation of a sludge blanket
4. Significant pumping costs
5. Use of powders, liquids and solvents to try and address grease issues not successful

SOLUTIONS:
